Seattle Chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering wishes to make scholarships available to two 9-12 Grade Washington State Educators interested in attending SAMPE’s 2010 International Conference to be held at the Seattle Convention Center the week of May 17, 2010. The Scholarship covers the $800 registration fee for the technical presentations (includes the Fellow Banquet, and Welcome Reception). Supplemental scholarship funds (up to $500) will cover a portion of travel, lodging, food or other expenses such as substitute teacher fees. Exhibition areas are open to the public at no charge – and all educators are welcome to attend!
Eligibility: Application is open to all 9-12 Grade educators currently teaching at a Washington State approved school. Scholarship awards will be based on educator interest and ability to favorably influence students to pursue engineering fields of study such as those involving materials and processes.
Obligation: This interest and ability is to be documented in a 300-500 word statement chronicling how the educator currently influences students towards such technical fields. After the conference, the scholarship award recipients are to provide to the Seattle Chapter a short summary of how the experience will be used to further that cause.
